Mafia Wars Bangkok – Elephant on the Loose?

If you’ve been logged on lately, you know that in order to unlock Mafia Wars Bangkok venue you’ll need a Thai passport and three items to access Mafia Wars Bangkok on its official release date. The official Bangkok release date – and the soonest we can get those Thai passports – is January 2010. I’m guessing LATE January, as I think Zynga programmers have bitten off more than they can chew, lol. The original Bangkok release date was “holiday 2009,” so they are pretty much past deadline. I’ll be amazed if we see Mafia Wars Bangkok before January 31 at 11:59 pm.

But it looks like Zynga is throwing us a bone (Dec. 8, 2009) and we can get the 3 items now (Triad Coin, Yakuza Sake, and Thai Note) to get a taste of the next venue. But Mafia Wars Bangkok is not “out” yet! Just the 3 items.
You’ll find the three access items by doing New York jobs. The Mafia Wars Bangkok items will be in loot drops whenever you see the Mafia Wars elephant icon. That’s how it seems to work, so far. You won’t find the items or the Mafia Wars elephant icon on jobs in Moscow or Cuba! Only NYC jobs. The Mafia Wars elephant icon is floating around randomly right now…it’s not the same jobs for everyone.
Just look for the Mafia Wars elephant icon and you know if you do that job you’ve got a shot at the item being in the loot drop. Good news: the Mafia Wars Bangkok access items DON’T appear to be rare (aka, impossible to get!). People are getting them easy. If you are stuck and can’t find any icon, you might try logging out, waiting 10 minutes, and then logging back on.
Don’t ask me why, but this works sometimes to get me that elusive loot or item I’m after.
Looks like the Mafia Wars Bangkok expansion will be Japanese vs. Chinese mafia. You’ll have to pick sides, just like you did in Moscow. Can’t tell yet which side will have the best weapons, armor, and vehicles. Here’s a short list of some Mafia Wars Bangkok loot:
