Mafia Wars Name
I don’t know about you, but I love a funny Mafia Wars name. I just can’t resist a laugh, and there is something a little funny about our criminal alter egos. Having a sense of humor about it is probably a smart thing.
What do you think about these names?
- John “D” Ear Tractor
- One Ear Johnny the Jackrabbit
- Johnny D Cockeyed Bull
Okay, so those are just silly. But you get the idea. I like making Mafia Wars names like this so much that I’m always resisting the urge to open up yet another Facebook account and Mafia Wars application just for the fun of constructing another Mafia Wars name.
Let’s talk about methods for making up a Mafia Wars name.
Or how about a top boss title to match that new Mafia Wars name?
When you join Mafia Wars at Facebook, MySpace, Yahoo, or iPhone you get to pick a Mafia Wars name for your character. This should be a fun exercise right? You can finally express that inner Mafioso!
But maybe you are drawing a blank.
You don’t want to be cliche and pick a movie mobster name. I think we have enough Don Corleones in Mafia Wars, don’t you?
You don’t want to be lame and go with the Don Default option.
And you really don’t want to pick a name that is vulgar or offensive – you may think it’s funny at first, but as you struggle to recruit 501 you’ll be sorry you picked a name that offends lots of people. (Even in a game, some people don’t like to be confronted with curse words or lewdness every time they view their My Mafia list.)
I’m going to add another caution about picking a Mafia Wars name, too. You don’t make the name too eye-catching. You don’t want to single yourself out for attacks or sucker punches any more than you have to during the early levels of Mafia Wars. If your Mafia Wars name is Don HitMeWithYourBestShot, someone will gladly oblige.
Being a whipping boy in Mafia Wars isn’t much fun so don’t pick a name that makes you a target unless you’re prepared to defend!
Good news: Whatever name you pick in the beginning – as of the writing of this article – can be changed later with 15 Mafia Wars Godfather reward points. So the name is not set in stone.
Which is more than I can say about Mafia Wars character choice, unfortunately.
But ouch! Not your plan for spending those precious reward points? That’s understandable since getting more points is either a pain in the survey-trial-offer or a pain in your wallet. Plus, you have better things to spend your Godfather points on – like the +4 stat upgrade!
But the time may come when buying a new Mafia Wars name is just practicing the better part of valor. On the run from the cops? Or how about a change of ID to throw off a vengeance nut who puts you on the Mafia Wars hitlist every time you log on because you robbed him twice a year ago? Or maybe you are ready to join one of the Mafia Wars super groups on Facebook and a Mafia Wars name change is a requirement.
Trying to leave the past behind you is a good idea then!
When you come up with a new Mafia Wars name it can be fun to go the extra mile. Go to the library and get a baby name book, or to an Italian baby names site and look there to get ideas ideas for a base name you can then add to with modifiers. It gives Mafia Wars fun flavor when you go authentic Italian, I think.
Another method is to alter your own name to look more “mafia.” If you name is John Doe, Johnny or Johnny D, or JD can be the base of your Mafia Wars name.
The fun comes in when you start adding interesting modifiers.
Try an adjective, like “mad,” “cockeyed,” “dapper” or “four toes.” Or add a weapon to your name, like “hammer,” “switchblade,” or “lead pipe.” You can get really quirky and add objects or hand tools (aka torture tools) to that base name. Things like “anvil,” “stone,” or “pliers” have a good criminal ring. Then there are always the animal modifiers like “shark,” “wolf,” and “bull.”
Using this system, here are some Mafia Wars names for our example John Doe:
- Mad Johnny D
- Knee Cap Johnny
- Dapper Johnny D
- Johnny Lead Pipe
- Pony Up Johnny
- Stoneface Johnny
- Short Pier Johnny
Okay, so those names may be a little silly. Hopefully this method will make choosing your Mafia Wars name fun, too.
You know what would make your new Mafia Wars name the best name ever? A level 200 Top Boss title right in front of it!
